Annual Giving

Annual funds support student scholarships, faculty salaries, academic and athletic programs, facilities, and technological and media resources – all the things that make up the essence of Tufts.

But annual funds also do a lot more. They close the gap between the cost of tuition and what each student actually pays. They reflect the priority of school deans and their visions for sustaining and strengthening teaching and learning. And although specifically earmarked to meet projected annual budgets, they also contribute to a strong financial foundation for future generations. By stabilizing day-to-day operations, they keep Tufts flexible by providing critical resilience against unexpected challenges or contingencies.

The Annual Fund is a key contributor to Beyond Boundaries: The Campaign for Tufts. Collectively, Tufts schools aim to raise $80.5 million in annual fund support over the course of the campaign – 10 percent, of the campaign total.

Annual Fund contributions to date demonstrate growing support. During fiscal year 2005 to 2006, the Tufts community contributed nearly $13.5 million to annual funds, an increase of four percent over the previous year. A total of 32,645 donors helped achieve this success, an increase of 4.5 percent in number of donors.

We invite you to join alumni, parents, and friends in this important effort to fulfill priorities in financial aid, faculty development, and facility improvements, among others. Gifts of all sizes are welcome.

Participation matters too. When more people give, it demonstrates the value of investing in Tufts. The percentage of alumni who give each year is one of the factors considered by corporations, foundations, and ranking organizations when making philanthropic decisions.
